Matua Raḵi supports the development of the addiction research workforce. This includes those working in dedicated research roles, students and academics, as well as clinicians and service providers who are engaged in embarking on or implementing research initiatives.
This work programme recognises the unique contribution that this diverse workforce offer in relation to evidence (across the range of levels) to support practice. We do this through:
holding an annual National Addiction Research Symposium in collaboration with the University of Otago, Massey University, University of Auckland, Auckland University of Technology (AUT) and Victoria University of Wellington
producing a three times per annum addiction research bulletin providing a snapshot of addiction research activities relevant to New Zealand
sponsoring the Matua Raḵi New and Emerging Researcher Award for an oral or poster presentation at Cutting Edge.
