Matua Raḵi has developed the Mental Health and Addiction Screening and Assessment guideline to promote a standardised approach to screening and comprehensive assessment processes in primary and secondary mental health and addiction services. This is a significant update of the Screening, assessment and evaluation: Alcohol and other drug, smoking and gambling resource which was published in 2011.
The changes to the guidelines reflect emerging trends in the addiction and mental health sector and aim meet the needs of clinicians and practitioners to take a more holistic approach to both screening and comprehensive assessment when working with people.
This resource helps promote a common understanding and operating language with regard to mental health and addiction screening and comprehensive assessment.
The guidelines also provide guidance on preparing reports for external agencies.
