Equally Well UK launches

Equally Well UK was formally launched with great enthusiasm in September. One of Equally Well’s co-founders, Helen Lockett, was present thanks to the support of one of our collaborative members, Pegasus Health. Helen opened the launch with a brief background on Equally Well and how it started in New Zealand, and some examples of impact we’ve achieved.

To make the most of the trip, Helen also presented at the King’s Fund Integrated Care summit; met with the UK’s equivalent of the Ministry of Health; stopped by the Synergi Collaborative for a catch-up on how they are achieving collective impact; and spent time with the Centre for Mental Health.

Most importantly Equally Well UK is a partnership with people with lived experience of addiction or mental health issues, and to achieve this on the scale of a country like the UK, they have convened an Equally Well experts by experience panel.

The Equally Well UK collaborative has over 50 endorsing organisations and over 1,200 Twitter followers already! It’s great to see such a fantastic uptake of the importance of Equally Well and how they’ve adopted the principles that underpin what we do and how we work. Most importantly Equally Well UK is a partnership with people with lived experience of addiction or mental health issues, and to achieve this on the scale of a country like the UK, they have convened an Equally Well experts by experience panel. It was an honour to hear from members of this panel at the launch, particularly Nikita Egan and Hannah Moore who used their experiences to energise the UK Equally Well champions into action. With the emergence of Equally Well collaboratives in other countries comes the opportunity to strengthen our collaborative impact here, as global awareness increases, and with this, a growth of knowledge.
