Introduction to the Substance Addiction (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 2017 - e-learning

This e-learning module provides a brief overview of the Substance Addiction (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 2017, also known as the SA(CAT) Act.

The SA(CAT) Act replaces the Alcoholism and Addiction Act 1966 and comes into force in February 2018. The SA(CAT) Act introduces new addiction sector roles, processes and models of care.

This module will help the addiction workforce and allied sectors develop a familiarity with the scope and intent of the Act.

Introduce learners to the:

  • aims and intent of the Act
  • main processes of the Act
  • main professional roles required by the Act
  • terminology of the Act.
  • pathways to care provided by the Act.
