Scholarship Opportunities

Te Rau Matatini provides scholarships and bursaries to increase workforce capacity within the Māori health workforce

Our scholarships for 2012 are NOW CLOSED

ONE

Hoe Tahi Addiction and Methamphetamine Scholarships

The scholarships are available to Māori and non-Māori:

* Currently working in the AOD sector who are committed to ongoing professional development

* Working (now or in the future) with whānau who have AOD and/or methamphetamine misuse issues

* Undertaking a relevant study programme in the 2012 academic year, and

* Eligible to work in New Zealand.

Undergraduate scholarships range from $1,000-$5,000 each. Postgraduate scholarships range from $1,000-$10,000 each.

TWO

Hoe Wha Problem Gambling Scholarships

Funded by the Ministry of Health and Health Workforce New Zealand, Te Rau Matatini is offering undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships aimed at developing the problem gambling and gambling workforce.

The undergraduate scholarships are available to those:

Currently working in the problem gambling or gambling workforce, and

Undertaking a relevant study programme in the 2012 academic year

The undergraduate scholarships of $4,000 per year for a maximum of 2 years.

The postgraduate scholarships are available to those:

Undertaking postgraduate studies and/or a Masters thesis involving research associated with problem gambling

The Postgraduate and Masters scholarships of $12,000 per year for a maximum of 2 years

The PhD scholarships are available to those:

Undertaking a PhD involving research associated with problem gambling

The PhD scholarships of up to $20,000 per year for up to 2 years.

THREE

Henry Rongomau Bennett Foundation Scholarships

The Henry Rongomau Bennett scholarships will be offered to kaimahi who work or aspire to work in leadership roles across the health, mental health and addictions sector.  The purposes of the scholarship are to develop and build:

Leadership in Māori health

Competence in Te Ao Māori, and

Excellence in health

The undergraduate scholarships range from $1,000 - $5,000 each.

The postgraduate scholarships range from $1,000 - $10,000 each.

The Postgraduate and Masters scholarships of $12,000 per year for a maximum of 2 years

The PhD scholarships are available to those:

Undertaking a PhD involving research associated with problem gambling

The PhD scholarships of up to $20,000 per year for up to 2 years.
