Review of Addiction Sector Competencies

This project has been developed within Matua Raki to support DAPAANZ (Drug & Alcohol Practitioners Association of Aotearoa New Zealand) and the addiction sector to complete the review of existing practitioner competencies to align with Ministry of Health Let’s Get Real and, as appropriate, other frameworks such as the Takarangi Competency Framework and the Seitapu Framework.

Matua Raki supports the review of the addiction sector competencies to support the broad addiction workforce to have the essential knowledge skills and attitudes required to deliver effective mental health and addiction treatment services to those with gambling, tobacco, alcohol and other drug-related addiction issues.

DAPAANZ is leading the project, in collaboration with Abacus (Counselling Training and Supervision Ltd) and supported by a Reference Group representing the three workforce sub-groups.

The project team has developed the Draft Addiction Intervention Competency Framework which is now available for consultation. Your feedback is invited. Last day for feedback is 20 August 2010. See details on this website.
