The Matua Raki Advisory Group (MRAG) has been set up to provide strategic advice to Matua Raki, monitoring and supporting the implementation of workforce development strategies with the addiction treatment sector.  It will also act as an avenue for the sector to inform and support Matua Raki in achieving its work programme and to act as an advocate for Matua Raki with key stakeholders.

MRAG members were selected for both their individual expertise relating to addiction (alcohol and other drug and problem gambling) and their ability to represent the views of wider stakeholder groups.  Members were appointed by Matua Raki Acting Director Ian MacEwan in consultation with sector leaders. MRAG met for the first time in April 2009.

“We are pleased to have access to the wisdom, and expertise of a supportive group of people.” said Ian. “With this group helping the Matua Raki team, the direction of workforce development is in experienced hands.”

It is planned that MRAG will meet at least three times a year, but may also provide advice by email and teleconference.
